I do not know anything about this man. This bothers me. All I do know that he is a famous writer, and that this is a self-portrait taken no later than 1891 or 1892. It is a spectacularly good self-portrait, of course. Do you feel Time trickling out of it as I do? Can you also feel how you are aging while watching this (self–)portrait of a long dead man, almost Doriangrayish effects kicking in? If this web-basd notebook would have a cover I would prefer to close it now.

ReplyDeleteI know I dipped into his Inferno / Occult Diary stuff in my early 20s -- I mostly remember just feeling really bad for the guy.
